President Jonathan said: Stolen DDC machines won’t affect credible elections

PRESIDENT Goodluck Jonathan on Wednesday assured all Nigerians that the process that will lead to credible elections in 2011 has not been interrupted in any way despite the stealing of the Direct Data Capture (DDC) machines of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
This reassurance came as the president called on all Nigerians to be vigilant and watchful so that those who threatened violence if they did not have their way in 2011 were put to shame.
Jonathan, in a comment on his Facebook page warned the citizens not to allow anyone to rob the nation of the unique opportunity to decide the direction the country will go in 2011.
He said there was need not to politicise any incident and inject suspicion into the polity.
The president stated that he was glad that the police had lived up to their responsibilities and had made arrests and recovery of the stolen DDC machines, insisting that the feat was laudable and should be supported by everyone.
